PITTSBURGH, PA – Following numerous complaints from community members and local business proprietors, the Pittsburgh Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice detectives conducted a series of raids on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, targeting the Smoking Stars Smoke Shop in Market Square.
In a coordinated effort with Allegheny County Police and North Fayette Police, detectives executed a search warrant at 1000 Park Lane Dr., a hotel serving as the primary residence of Shelly Omarie Duberry, 38, co-owner of Smoking Stars. Duberry was arrested on charges related to the possession and distribution of marijuana.
A separate warrant executed at the Smoking Stars storefront led to the arrest of Danitto Simpson, 26, on outstanding warrants from Volusia County, Florida. Simpson, a Jamaican national with an expired U.S. visa, was sought for a September 2023 homicide in Daytona Beach and an aggravated assault charge.
