MORRISTOWN, NJ — Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has activated its storm response plan as the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby approach New Jersey.
The storm is expected to bring heavy rains and gusty winds, potentially leading to service interruptions across the region.
In anticipation of the storm, JCP&L has prepared by implementing 16-hour shifts for storm personnel, ensuring round-the-clock coverage from line, substation, and forestry crews.
Additional internal operators, damage assessors, and analysts have been staffed at distribution control centers to handle a high volume of outage reports.
To further bolster their efforts, JCP&L has deployed an additional 150 contractor crews. Flood mitigation measures have also been tested and activated at substations located in flood-prone areas.
The company’s meteorologists have been tracking the storm for several days, allowing for these comprehensive preparations.
