TOMS RIVER, NJ – Jersey Central Power & Light is approaching the final stages of a significant cable replacement project in the Holiday City section of Toms River, Ocean County.
Beginning earlier this year, the $470,000 initiative involves the replacement of 4,200 feet of older, uncoated underground lines with new power lines encased in a thick shell, offering resistance against environmental challenges such as dirt, rocks, lightning, and water.
Upon completion, scheduled for early fall, the project will stand to benefit approximately 2,500 customers.

The undertaking promises an upgrade in service and durability while maintaining an emphasis on minimal disruption to the community.
Using directional drilling techniques, JCP&L crews have removed and replaced the old cable without the need to close local streets.

James Fakult, president of FirstEnergy’s New Jersey operations, reflected on the project’s importance, saying, “Replacing this underground cable will help ensure our customers continue to receive the safe, affordable, and reliable electric service that they expect from us. This work is also being done with minimal disruption to the community during a time when the Jersey Shore is well visited.”
