JERSEY CITY, NJ – Vernard Doe, a 43-year-old Jersey City resident, was arrested on Friday, by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit on multiple sex crime charges involving a 29-year-old woman.
The incident occurred on June 20, inside a building on Martin Luther King Drive.
Doe, who was familiar with the victim, is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault on a Physically Helpless Person, Aggravated Assault, Sexual Assault by Force or Coercion, and Aggravated Sexual Assault During the Commission of an Aggravated Assault.
Following his arrest, Doe was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
The State has filed a Detention Motion, with a tentative hearing date set for July 19.
