Jersey City Police Continue Search for Hit and Run Driver that Killed 85-Year-Old

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has publicly sought assistance in identifying a vehicle associated with a hit-and-run incident that transpired on Friday.

At about 6:45 p.m., Jersey City Police Department was alerted to a pedestrian accident near Fairview Avenue and Monticello Avenue.

Officers arriving at the scene found Mumtaz Chaudhry, an 85-year-old resident of Jersey City, near Fairmount Avenue and Summit Avenue.

Chaudhry was confirmed dead on the scene.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, along with the Jersey City Police Department, is actively investigating this matter.
