Jersey City Woman Struck and Killed by Hit and Run Driver

JERSEY CITY, NJ – A fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on Tuesday, is currently under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department. The incident took place around 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Route 440 and Danforth Avenue.

Responding officers from the Jersey City Police Department discovered the body of Billiah Mogusu, a 58-year-old resident of Jersey City, near the intersection.

She was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after their arrival. Initial findings suggest that Mogusu was struck by multiple vehicles, some of which remained at the scene. However, the vehicle that initially hit her is believed to have left the scene.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department, is actively pursuing this investigation.
