Jersey Shore Dinner Spot of the Day: The Tavern at Black Eyed Susans

LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ – When COVID-19 came, restaurants were forced to improvise, overcome and adapt and perhaps no restaurant at the Jersey Shore has done this with as much care as Black Eyed Susans.  When indoor dining was shut down by the state and outdoor dining allowed, Black Eyed Susans Restaurant created “The Tavern at Black Eyed Susans”, a casual, warm, and inviting outdoor dining experience, under the cover of a huge party tent.

If you have never been to the restaurant before COVID-19 you’re missing out.  The menu is your typical Jersey Shore restaurant menu with an artisanal flair.  Grilled scallops, littleneck clams, and crabcakes can be found alongside salads, chicken parmigiana and  pizza. With liquor license in hand, Black Eyed Susans also has a full drink menu that includes wine, beer, champagne, margaritas, and more.  On draft, this summer they had Kane Waist High, Victory Twisted Monkey and Last Wave Right Coast.

If you like drinks with a ginger kick, definitely try the Orchards at the Sea, a mix of spiced rum, Red Jacket Cider, lemon and ginger beer.   Happy Hour is every Wednesday through Friday from 4-5 p.m.

Their outside tavern is open Wednesday through Sunday from 4-8 p.m.  Indoor dining is also available in accordance with state and CDC health and safety guidelines during bad weather and definitely call ahead of time.  Visit their website for more information.
