Jingle Brawl at South Jersey High School as Hundreds Fight at Winter Break Dismissal

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – A significant disturbance unfolded at Highland High School on December 22, 2023, prompting a swift response from the Gloucester Township Police Department. The incident, which occurred at approximately 11:48 AM, involved multiple fights in the hallways just before the school’s dismissal for winter break.

Upon arrival, Gloucester Township Police Officers, assisting the School Resource Officer, encountered three separate altercations involving a large group of over 100 students. The officers successfully managed to take control of the situation and restore order.

One student reportedly suffered minor injuries during the altercation. Following the incident, all students were safely dismissed from the school.

The Gloucester Township Police Department’s Juvenile and Family Services Bureau is currently investigating the incident to understand the circumstances leading to the fights and to determine appropriate actions.

Police did not say whether charges had been filed at this time.
