WASHINGTON, DC – In his 11th biting incident since arriving at the White House, Commander, the German Shepherd belonging to President Joe Biden, bit a Secret Service agent at around 8 p.m. on Monday night.
Commander had previously sent an officer to the hospital in November of last year following a biting episode that involved the officer’s arms and thighs. After initial incidents, White House officials stated in July that the dog would undergo training and would be subject to new leashing rules.
Jonathan Wackrow, a former Secret Service agent, described the recurring incidents with Commander as a “workplace safety issue.” He expressed concern over the risk the dog poses to the staff who work in close quarters with the President.
