Joint task force busts drug operation in utica, arrest made

UTICA, NY — A significant drug bust occurred on January 11, 2024, when the Utica Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, supported by METRO SWAT, conducted a raid at a Kemble Street residence following complaints of drug and weapon activities.

The METRO SWAT team included members from the Utica Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, and New Hartford Police Department. The targeted operation was at 1424 Kemble St., an address linked to ongoing drug and weapons possession allegations.

During the search, investigators uncovered felony-level quantities of methamphetamine and seized over $7,000 in cash.

The operation culminated in the arrest of 20-year-old Andrew Wynder of Utica. Wynder faces multiple charges, including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fifth and seventh degrees, and two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia.
