NOTTINGHAM, MD – A spur-of-the-moment decision led a Harford County woman to win a $50,000 Pick 5 prize, turning $5 in change into a fortune.

While shopping at Walmart #2045 in Nottingham, the Joppa resident decided to use an extra $5 she had on a Lottery vending machine game. Opting for a Pick 5 ticket for the February 9 evening drawing instead of her usual scratch-off, she then set the ticket aside for the weekend.

“It wasn’t until Monday that I realized I had won,” the winner, a retired banker, shared. She checked the winning numbers, 47967, and confirmed her win by scanning the ticket three times at a Lottery retailer, each scan reaffirming the $50,000 prize.

This isn’t her first win; last year, she won $5,000 from a scratch-off. She plans to use her latest winnings for home renovations. Walmart #2045, located at 8118 Perry Hill Road in Baltimore County, will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
