Juvenile Arrested for Threatening Albemarle High School

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA — A juvenile was arrested and charged with making threats of harm to students and staff at Albemarle High School, as announced by the Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD).

On Tuesday, March 26, at around 8 pm, ACPD was alerted by school staff about a concerning social media post and email targeting Albemarle High School. The police acted swiftly, leading to the identification and arrest of a juvenile suspect following a thorough investigation at their residence. The suspect is now facing charges under §18.2-60 for threats of death or bodily injury on school property and is detained at the Blue Ridge Detention Center.

The effective collaboration between ACPD and Albemarle County Public Schools was pivotal in the prompt reporting and investigation of the threat. Although deemed not credible for March 27, additional police patrols have been assigned to the school’s Lambs Lane campus as a precautionary measure to alleviate any arising concerns.
