Juvenile Arrested in Schenectady After Foot Pursuit, Loaded Gun Recovered

SCHENECTADY, NY – On the evening of Saturday, Schenectady Police Department officers attempted to stop an individual who was creating a traffic hazard near 1224 State Street.

The individual initially fled but was detained after a brief foot pursuit. Once stopped, the individual was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun. They were arrested and charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree (a C felony) and Crossing at Other Than a Crosswalk (a vehicle and traffic law violation).

Due to the arrested individual being a juvenile, no further information is available.

The Schenectady Police Department continues to work diligently to ensure the safety of the community and encourages the public to report any suspicious activity or crime.
