Juvenile charged after false bomb threat forces evacuation at Allentown middle school

Allentown, PA – A bomb threat at Trexler Middle School on Monday morning led to an emergency police response, evacuation, and building sweep before investigators determined the threat was false and took a juvenile student into custody.

Around 8:30 a.m., officers from the Allentown Police Department responded to the school after the threat was reported. Working with school staff, security, and the Allentown Fire Department, police conducted a search of the building and grounds with a canine unit trained to detect explosives. No suspicious devices or packages were found.

Following an investigation by the Allentown Police Youth Division, a male juvenile student was identified as the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with terroristic threats.

Police emphasized that in all criminal cases, charges are merely accusations, and the juvenile is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Officials said there will be no further comment on the case at this time.
