BALTIMORE, MD — On December 6, at approximately 2:57 PM, Baltimore Police officers were alerted to a stolen white KIA Sportage via a license plate reader hit.

The vehicle, traveling westbound on West Franklin Street, was linked to an armed robbery and carjacking.

Officers, with assistance from the aviation unit, began tracking the stolen vehicle, eventually locating it at West Franklin & North Payson Street.

Upon stopping the vehicle in the 1500 block of North Smallwood Avenue, officers found it occupied by three 16-year-old juveniles. A brief attempt to elude police preceded the stop. A BB gun was recovered from the scene, and the three juveniles were arrested. They were subsequently transported to the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center (BCJJC) and charged accordingly. The successful apprehension highlights the effective use of technology and coordinated police efforts in addressing carjackings and related crimes.
