K-9 Titan Assists Police in Apprhending Barricaded Assault Suspect

Suspect Apprehended After Barricade Incident

Stafford, VA – A reported assault led to a tense barricade situation on Sunday night that ended with the apprehension of a 46-year-old suspect by K-9 Titan.

Deputy E.L. Shelton responded to a 7-Eleven on Garrisonville Road at approximately 10:51 p.m. for an assault report. A victim, who sustained minor injuries, alleged that his roommate, Frank Lipka III, assaulted him. The victim also reported Lipka damaged items and brandished a machete during the altercation.

Deputies attempted to serve Lipka with warrants at his residence, but he refused to comply and barricaded himself inside. In the early hours of Monday, the Crisis Negotiation Team tried to contact him, but negotiations failed. Subsequently, the SWAT Team devised a plan to resolve the situation.

The SWAT Team, led by Sergeant B.U. Demirci and K-9 Titan, forced entry into the residence. During the attempt to apprehend Lipka, he assaulted Titan but was eventually subdued. Lipka received medical treatment for a K-9 bite before being charged with multiple offenses, including injuring a police K-9
