Lakewood Carjacker Captured After Standoff With Police at Nearby Hotel

LAKEWOOD, NJ – A 52-year-old Lakewood man suspected of a carjacking near the New Jersey Transit Bus Terminal was apprehended today after a police standoff at Carasaljo Inn.

The incident began earlier this morning with a carjacking reported near First Street and Lexington Avenue. Investigative leads directed law enforcement to Carasaljo Inn, situated at the corner of Rt 9 and 5th Street. The Lakewood Police Department Special Response Team was deployed to the location. A search warrant was obtained, and the suspect was ordered to exit the room. He complied with the orders, and a second individual was also taken into custody.
