Lancaster County Officers Respond to Burglary in Progress, Suspect Shot and Hospitalized

MANHEIM, Pa. — A suspect is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after an officer-involved shooting during a burglary in progress in Manheim, Lancaster County on Tuesday evening.

According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, officers from the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department were dispatched to a business in the 1200 block of Lancaster Road at approximately 8:17 p.m. on August 27, 2024, following reports of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed suspect who attempted to flee the scene.

During the confrontation, one officer discharged their firearm, striking the suspect. The suspect was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. Authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Lancaster County Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the officer-involved shooting. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
