HENDERSON, NV — Dustin M. Lewis, a Henderson-based accountant, received a 13-month prison sentence for involvement in bribery and tax fraud conspiracies.
Lewis, a certified public accountant at L.L. Bradford & Company in Las Vegas, engaged in these illegal activities from February 2015 to February 2016. He conspired with a U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) official, paying over $150,000 in bribes and kickbacks. In return, the official, part of a selection committee for USBR audit contracts, favored L.L. Bradford.
Additionally, Lewis was involved in filing a fraudulent 2013 corporate tax return for six businesses, claiming over $11 million in false deductions. This resulted in a tax loss exceeding $1.5 million to the IRS.
U.S. District Judge Andrew P. Gordon sentenced Lewis to three years of supervised release following his prison term and ordered him to pay around $704,002 in restitution. A criminal forfeiture money judgment of the same amount was also imposed.
