LEONARDTOWN, Md. – A St. Mary’s County man won a $50,000 second-tier prize on the Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition scratch-off, officials announced Wednesday.

The winner, a truck driver and regular player of bingo- and crossword-themed scratch-offs, purchased the $20 ticket at Food Lion, located at 40955 Merchant Lane.

He discovered his win while scanning the ticket with his lottery app after playing at home. “I was shocked and I was very happy,” he said.

The man plans to use the prize money to help his daughter. Bonus Bingo X20 2nd Edition, which launched two weeks ago, offers multiple chances to win on eight bingo cards.
