LAUREL, MD — A 19-year-old Maryland man was arrested Thursday following a multi-agency investigation linking him to an illegal car rally held in Philadelphia during Super Bowl LVIII celebrations, authorities announced.
Yariel M. Fuentes-Reyes of Laurel is charged in Maryland with misdemeanor possession of a firearm by a minor and possession of a firearm without a serial number. He is also facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges in Pennsylvania related to the February 2025 car rally.
On July 3, members of the Maryland Car Rally Task Force, supported by the Maryland State Police Special Tactical Assault Team Element and Philadelphia Police, executed a search warrant at Fuentes-Reyes’ residence. Investigators recovered an un-serialized Polymer 80 handgun.
Fuentes-Reyes was processed at the Maryland State Police Glen Burnie Barrack before being transferred to the Anne Arundel County Detention Center. He is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
Authorities say the arrest is part of a continuing crackdown on illegal exhibition driving and unsanctioned car rallies that threaten public safety.
The Maryland Car Rally Task Force includes law enforcement agencies from multiple counties and jurisdictions across the state.
