LEONIA, NJ — Leonia Middle School is shut today due to hazardous conditions caused by a recent storm, while Anna C Scott Elementary School and Leonia High School remain operational. The storm has led to widespread damage, including downed wires, trees, and utility poles, prompting warnings from local authorities to avoid such hazards and adhere to road closure signs and caution tape.

Significant road closures have been announced, affecting areas such as Broad Ave from Magnolia to Hillside, and several others, due to the storm’s impact. Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) is addressing the damage and power outages, though there’s no estimated time for when repairs will be complete. The Leonia Department of Public Works will proceed with clearing debris once PSE&G has dealt with live wires.

Residents needing to travel are advised to be cautious and allocate extra time for their journeys. The Leonia Police Department encourages reporting hazardous conditions by calling (201) 944-0800.
