Loaded Illegal Handgun Found During Traffic Stop

HUNTINGTON, NY – A Huntington Station man was arrested early this morning after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a loaded stolen handgun in his vehicle. The arrest occurred at 2:50 AM in a motel parking lot in Huntington.

A Second Precinct officer of the Suffolk County Police Department initiated the stop and found that the driver had a suspended license. Upon impounding the vehicle, a Hi-Point semi-automatic handgun was found inside. Investigations revealed the gun was reported stolen in Ohio.

The 40-year-old man faces charges including Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree.
