Jackson, NJ – The Jackson Township Council is set to revisit a longstanding ordinance concerning Andover Road, established in 1979, which designated the road as a one-way street. This comes after local residents voiced issues regarding parking and traffic flow during a recent council meeting.
Council President Jennifer Kuhn announced plans for a comprehensive review in partnership with the Jackson Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau. The bureau is tasked with conducting a new traffic safety analysis to address the community’s concerns and reassess the current utility of the 1979 ordinance.
Kuhn acknowledged the potential oversight in enforcing the one-way designation from New Prospect Road to Aldrich Road, as stipulated in the ordinance. The regulation specifically designated Andover Road as a one-way street, a measure that now appears to have been largely ignored over the years.
The review will also involve collaboration with county officials, given Andover Road’s location between two county roads, to ensure any decisions made are well-informed and consider broader traffic patterns and safety considerations.
Councilman Mordechai Burnstein has engaged with Ocean County Commissioner Frank Sadeghi regarding the issue, signaling a concerted effort among local and county officials to address the residents’ concerns.
Kuhn expressed a commitment to transparency and resolution, stating, “Residents of Andover Road came to our meeting with questions. After we conduct the studies, we hope to have answers and a final solution to announce in the near future.”
