Major Drug Bust in Hanover: One Arrested

HANOVER, MD—A significant drug-related arrest has occurred in Hanover following an investigation by detectives from the Northern District Operational Unit. The arrest was part of a crackdown on suspected drug distribution activities in the area.

After receiving tips about potential drug trafficking, detectives conducted an intensive investigation that culminated in a raid on May 22. The operation took place in the 900 block of Dorchester Cove Road, where officers executed a search warrant.

During the raid, law enforcement officials seized a substantial amount of contraband, including a Glock 43 9mm handgun with ammunition, a Smith & Wesson .380 caliber handgun with ammunition, approximately 73 pounds of suspected cannabis, $239,237 in U.S. currency, and various items typically used in drug packaging and distribution.

Shawn Lamont Matthews Jr., a 25-year-old male from Hanover, was arrested at the scene. He now faces multiple charges related to the drug distribution investigation.
