Man and Woman Arrested in Atlantic City on Human Trafficking Charges

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The Atlantic City Police Department has recently announced the arrest of a man and a woman accused of promoting prostitution. Colin Sherwood, 44, of New York, NY, and Jamy Mathis, 44, of Brooklyn, NY, were taken into custody on Friday, June 17.

At around 10:09 AM, Officers Corey Treadway and Tahsin Hossain responded to a tip at a motel on the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue regarding potential human trafficking. Upon speaking with the victim and the occupants of a motel room, Sherwood and Mathis were arrested. Detectives James Barrett and Alberto Valles subsequently uncovered text messages that implicated the suspects’ involvement in prostitution.

Both Sherwood and Mathis face charges of human trafficking and promoting prostitution. They have been remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
