Man arrested after attempted stabbing inside DC business

WASHINGTON, DC — A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted stabbing involving two employees at a Northwest DC store last week.

The incident occurred on Monday, January 1, at approximately 9:00 p.m., when the suspect entered a store in the 1700 block of Corcoran Street NW, despite being previously barred from the premises. After an employee notified a security guard, the suspect brandished a knife and attempted to stab both employees. Neither was injured during the attack, and the suspect fled the scene.

On Monday, January 6, Warran Welcome of Northwest DC was taken into custody and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (knife).

Police credited their investigation with swiftly identifying and apprehending the suspect in the case.
