Man Arrested During Church Vandalism Investigation, Assault on Deputies

FLAGLER COUNTY, FL – A man was arrested outside a church in Flagler County after exhibiting suspicious behavior and resisting arrest. Following reports of vandalism at local churches, deputies encountered the man acting oddly near a church.

He feigned sleep upon their approach and turned hostile when questioned, hurling obscenities and resisting arrest.

The confrontation escalated as the man attempted to physically assault deputies and damage a patrol car.

His actions not only led to charges of Loitering and Prowling but also Resisting an Officer With Violence. Sheriff Rick Staly highlighted the incident as a testament to the challenges and verbal abuse deputies face, emphasizing the importance of their training in de-escalation and calmness under pressure. Staly reminded the community of the essential role of law enforcement in maintaining public safety.
