Man arrested in August shooting that left teen wounded in the Bronx

BRONX, N.Y. — A Manhattan man has been arrested in connection with the August 2024 shooting of a 16-year-old boy in the Bronx, police said.

Kenhy Sarrias-Buelvas, 37, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The shooting occurred on August 23 at approximately 12:40 a.m. near the corner of Bryant Avenue and Jennings Street. Police reported that an unidentified suspect fired a gunshot at the teen, striking him in the neck, before fleeing northbound on Bryant Avenue. The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx Saint Barnabas Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.
