Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Bronx Shooting

BRONX, N.Y. — Julio Ramirez, 28, was arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on July 21, authorities announced.

The arrest took place on July 23 at approximately 6:35 p.m., within the confines of the 43rd Precinct.

Ramirez, residing at 540 East 169th Street, Bronx, faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon with a loaded firearm.

On July 21 at approximately 4:13 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call reporting a person shot near 2010 Bruckner Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found a 47-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased. The deceased has been identified as Jose Baez, 52, of 1146 Ogden Avenue, Bronx. The investigation remains ongoing.
