Man arrested in fatal D.C. shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A tragic discovery in a vehicle crash two months ago has led to the arrest of a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man in Southeast Washington.

On October 20, 2024, at approximately 8:47 a.m., officers were called to the 1400 block of 18th Street SE after reports of a vehicle crash. Inside the vehicle, they found Leonard Taylor Jr., of Suitland, Maryland, unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts by emergency responders, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined the shooting occurred in the 1500 block of 19th Street SE.

On December 19, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 33-year-old Andre Clark, who has no fixed address. Clark was charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed under a DC Superior Court warrant.
