Stafford, VA– A 27-year-old man from Woodbridge was arrested following an incident involving a bathroom barricade. The arrest occurred after deputies responded to Stafford Market Place on Monday morning.

At 9:48 a.m., deputies arrived at the scene following reports of a disturbance involving a weapon. Witnesses informed authorities of a man clad in all black throwing a rock in front of T.J. Maxx and allegedly assaulting a customer. Concerns were raised regarding the possibility of a firearm in the suspect’s possession.

The suspect fled to a nearby Hardee’s on Prosperity Lane and hid in a bathroom stall. Deputies attempted to negotiate with the suspect, but he remained uncooperative and hostile toward law enforcement officers.

Using OC spray, authorities managed to compel the suspect to surrender. Subsequently, he was charged with assault, battery, and obstruction before being detained at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

The rock used in the offense was later recovered from behind the bathroom fixture.
