Man Charged for Boarding Freight Train, Harassing Workers

CUMBERLAND, MD – Last night, at around 11:21 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department was alerted to a trespassing incident near E. Industrial Boulevard and Virginia Avenue. Responding officers received information that a man had climbed onto the front of a CSX-owned train engine and was taunting its employees.

After a description and probable location were provided, the officers were able to locate and identify the man as Zachary Patrick Stewart, 36, of Cumberland. Stewart was taken into custody on charges of trespassing. However, during the arrest process, he made an attempt to disarm one of the officers.

Stewart is now at Central Booking, awaiting a bond review. He faces multiple charges including an attempt to disarm a law enforcement officer, unlawfully being on railroad equipment, disorderly conduct, and trespassing on posted property.
