Man Charged for Waving Gun After Lakewood Road Rage Incident

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A road rage dispute escalated Wednesday morning when a man brandished his licensed gun at another driver in Lakewood Township.

The Lakewood Police Department took the man into custody and charged him with multiple offenses, including Unjustified Display of a Firearm and Terroristic Threats.

At around 9:00 AM, two drivers engaged in a heated altercation on Rt. 9 in Lakewood.

According to a report by The Lakewood Scoop, one driver pulled out his licensed handgun and waved it in the air. Following the incident, both drivers went to Lakewood Police headquarters to give statements.

Lakewood Police subsequently obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s vehicle and recovered the handgun. The man has been charged with Unjustified Display of a Firearm, Terroristic Threats, and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes.

The suspect is currently being transported to Ocean County Jail for processing. If convicted, the man can lose his gun carry license and privileges. His name was not released.
