Man Charged in Connection with Homicide in Northeast D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington, D.C. MPD Homicide Branch has arrested a man related to a fatal shooting that took place in Northeast, D.C. on July 7th.

Officers responded to a 3:50 p.m. report of a shooting in the 4100 block of Ames Street, Northeast. They found 34-year-old Nolan Edwards suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Wednesday,, 46-year-old Christopher Tyler, also of Northeast, D.C., was arrested pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant. Members of the Criminal Apprehension Unit took Tyler into custody, and he was subsequently charged with First Degree Murder While Armed—Felony Murder.
