Man Charged in Weehawken Sexual Assault Incident

WEEHAWKEN, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 27-year-old man following a sexual assault that took place in Weehawken on Tuesday.

Around 2:00 AM, the Weehawken Police Department responded to a distress call from an apartment in Port Imperial. Officers located a woman who reported physical and sexual assault by a male at his residence. The suspect, identified as Dennis Hackett, was apprehended by police.

Hackett faces multiple charges from the Special Victims Unit, including Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(1), Criminal Sexual Contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b, and Simple Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1a(3). Additionally, the Weehawken Police Department charged Hackett with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Throwing Bodily Fluids at a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Restraint.

Hackett is currently detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility. A Detention Motion is tentatively
