ABERDEEN, MD – Patrick Joseph Brinsfield, 27, faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and first and second-degree arson, following a fire at the Aberdeen home he shared with his father. On March 31, 2023, at around 12:40 a.m., Aberdeen Fire Department and surrounding fire departments responded to the blaze at 13 North Post Road. Brinsfield made several statements to the Aberdeen Police Department, including admitting to setting the house on fire.

A witness reported the fire after spotting it on his way home and alerted Brinsfield and his father, who were both inside the house at the time. Brinsfield’s father, who was in the basement, was unaware of the fire on the second floor. After a thorough investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and consulting with the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office, charges were filed against Brinsfield. He is currently being held without bond at the Harford County Detention Center.
