Man Charged with Cousin’s Murder in Clifton

PATERSON, NJ – On Monday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Thomas Rinaldi announced the arrest and charges against Motasem Ramadan, a 25-year-old Clifton resident.

Ramadan is charged with first-degree murder and other offenses following the death of his cousin, Waleed Ramadan, 22, also of Clifton.

On December 31, 2022, Clifton Police responded to a report at 25 Van Cleve Avenue. They found Waleed Ramadan with multiple stab wounds to his neck and face. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Motasem Ramadan faces charges including first-degree murder, unlawful weapon possession, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

The murder charge alone carries a potential life sentence. Motasem Ramadan will appear before a Superior Court Judge for a pretrial detention hearing.
