Man Charged with Murder Following Shooting in Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, MD – A shooting incident in Williamsport on Thursday led to the death of a woman.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) responded to a residence on the 11700 block of Cedar Ridge Rd. shortly before 9:10 a.m. David Martz, Jr., 73, had reportedly called 911, claiming to have shot his wife.

Upon arrival, deputies apprehended Martz and found 66-year-old Joann Kay Martz with gunshot injuries, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martz faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and various assault charges.

The WCSO continues its investigation into the incident.
