CAMBRIDGE, MD – On Monday, August 14, Cambridge Police Department officers were alerted to an attempted carjacking on the 1400 block of the Cambridge Beltway at around 6:23 am.

Police said the victim reported an assault by multiple African-American teenagers after they forcibly accessed his parked car. They threatened him with a handgun and attempted to steal his belongings and the car.

A vigilant neighbor called 911, causing the suspects to flee in a Ford Edge.

Further investigation by the CPD linked the Ford Edge to other criminal activities, including a theft at a Walmart parking lot and an attempted vehicle theft at the Holiday Inn on Ocean Gateway.

Detectives identified one of the teenagers involved as a 15-year-old from Cambridge, MD. He was later arrested in connection with a stolen Ford Edge found in Trappe, MD.

The comprehensive investigation by CPD has resulted in the identification of two additional teenage suspects. All three have been referred to the Department of Juvenile Services on multiple charges including attempted carjacking, assault, and theft.
