Man Found Dead Was Overdose Victim, Richmond Police

RICHMOND, VA – A police presence at a home on 5th Street in Richmond to investigate the discovery of a man found dead inside was found to have been a result of a drug overdose.

According to police, on Monday, at around 10:37 AM, Richmond police officers responded to a residence located in the 400 block of 5th Street in Richmond. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased male in a building on the property.

“The preliminary investigation led investigators to believe the male was deceased due to a drug overdose. The Madison County Coroner sent the male for further examination, and the results are pending. The identity of the male is being withheld until contact can be established with his relatives,” the department said.

“Drug dealers do not care what they sell or what happens to people suffering in our community,” the department said.
