PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — Two suspects are in custody and a third is being sought after a shooting near two schools in Prince George’s County on Tuesday morning left one man hospitalized in critical condition.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, around 9:40 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 7000 block of Allentown Road, near Crossland High School and Thurgood Marshall Middle School. The area, which includes the Woodberry Plaza shopping center, was the scene of heavy police presence as officers worked to secure the vicinity.
At the scene, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical teams transported him to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in critical but stable condition, authorities said.
As the investigation unfolded, officers detained two suspects in connection with the shooting. Law enforcement officials said they are still actively searching for a third individual believed to be involved in the incident.
In response to the shooting, both Crossland High School and Thurgood Marshall Middle School were placed on lockdown as a safety precaution. Police confirmed that the lockdowns have since been lifted as the immediate threat to the area was addressed.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to locate the third suspect and determine the motive behind the shooting.
