Man in critical condition after stabbing in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood

PHILADELPHIA — A man is in critical condition after being stabbed early Sunday morning in the city’s Kensington neighborhood, according to police.

The stabbing occurred at approximately 2:28 a.m. on the 3100 block of Kensington Avenue. Authorities identified the victim, described as a Black male referred to as “John Doe,” who sustained a single stab wound to his lower back.

Police transported the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Officers have taken a suspect into custody, but the weapon used in the attack has not yet been recovered. Investigators have not determined a motive for the incident, and the scene remains under investigation.

Authorities have not released additional details at this time.
