Man injured in Chesapeake shooting, police investigating

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Police are investigating a shooting that left a man injured Thursday evening in Chesapeake.

Authorities said officers were dispatched at 7:49 p.m. to the 900 block of Great Bridge Boulevard after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found an adult male lying on the ground near the dairy section of a grocery store.

The victim told police he had been shot at his residence in the 700 block of Seapines Run and fled to the store to escape the shooter, according to officials.

Officers responded to the home and located a crime scene. Witnesses said the suspect fled the area in a vehicle.

Police said the victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening. The investigation is ongoing.
