NEWARK, DE – An update comes from the Delaware State Police regarding a crash from last month.

Andrew Wambugu, 35, of Newark, Delaware, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday night.

The initial incident took place on July 2, around 12:39 p.m. Wambugu, riding a 2022 Triumph Trident, was traveling on Route 1 northbound when a 2018 Nissan Maxima suddenly swerved multiple lanes, colliding with the motorcycle.

Wambugu was ejected from the motorcycle and was immediately hospitalized for critical injuries. The Nissan’s driver, a 21-year-old from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, remained unharmed.

Although initially cited for an improper lane change, additional charges might be on the horizon as the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues its probe.
