Man killed in brutal stabbing on Kansas Avenue

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 31-year-old man was killed Saturday evening in a stabbing on Kansas Avenue Northwest, prompting an active investigation into the fatal attack.

Vance Contee of Northwest, D.C., was found unconscious and suffering from stab wounds around 6:32 p.m. after emergency crews responded to the 4000 block of Kansas Avenue.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital by D.C. Fire and EMS, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful, and Contee was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Authorities have yet to release details about a suspect or motive as they continue to gather information.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with the killing.
