Man killed in Hit and Run in Brooklyn

New York City Police Department dispatched to crime scene.

NEW YORK CITY, NY – On Friday afternoon, the NYPD responded to a hit and run involving a pedestrian who was struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of South 5 Street and Keap Street. The incident occurred at approximately 12:24 PM.

When police arrived, the driver had since fled the scene.

Upon arrival, responding officers discovered a 49-year-old male lying on the road with serious injuries. Emergency Medical Services transported the injured man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Woodhull.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The victim, identified as Jesus Perez, was engaged in a dispute with an unidentified individual operating a dark colored Honda CRV.

The situation took a fatal turn when the driver struck Perez while he was standing in the roadway on Keap Street.

The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle in front of 199 Humboldt Street.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
