Man raped boy, shot him in the head in Miami

MIAMI – Police have arrested a man who raped and shot a 12-year-old boy Friday night.

Aliex Santiesteban, 43, was charged overnight after he raped and shot the boy in the head. Police said the gunshot was meant to kill the child. It entered through his jaw area and passed through his head.

Miami Police said it could have been a fatal shot and the boy is lucky. He is now recovering from his injury in the hospital.

At about 3:30 am on Friday, a boy stumbled to a group of men standing on a corner and alerted them that he had been shot and raped. Santiesteban forced the boy into his vehicle near 43rd Terrace and 30th Avenue. He drove him a few blocks away where he sexually assaulted and shot him. After the child was forced out of the vehicle, he fled.

He was treated at Ryder Trauma Center.
