NEWARK, NJ – Newark Firefighters extinguished a 2-alarm fire at a three-story building located at 634 15th Avenue. The building, which houses a convenience store on the first floor, caught fire on Tuesday, August 29.
The Newark Fire Department received a fire call at 4:21 p.m. A second alarm was triggered at 4:34 p.m. due to reports of heavy fire on the premises.
Firefighters from Ladder 12 and Engine 12 conducted a rescue operation, safely removing a man from a window. The individual was uninjured.
By 6:08 p.m., the fire was deemed under control. While there were no reported injuries, 12 adults and two children were relocated. The Newark Department of Public Safety’s Arson Unit is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
