Man sleeping in car in Queens parking lot carjacked at gunpoint

NEW YORK – A 22-year-old man sleeping inside a car parked in a parking lot on Avenue T was woken up with a gun pointed at him and carjacked.

New York City Police Department detectives determined the man was sleeping in the backseat of the car when at around 6 pm, two men, one armed and pointed their gun at him, demanding he exited the vehicle.

The two car thieves began to drive away before noticing somebody was in the back seat.

The carjackers then took the car and fled the scene.

A 50-year-old who was driving the car parked the car moments earlier, leaving it running with the victim in the back seat prior to the carjacking.

No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made.
